State of SupTech Report 2025

The State of SupTech Report 2025 provides a four-year view of how financial authorities are digitalising supervision, drawing on a dataset covering 312 authorities across 172 countries, including 148 authorities from 105 countries surveyed in 2025 alone. The report examines suptech adoption, data governance, AI and cloud usage, governance and operating models, and implementation constraints.

Findings show that adoption has accelerated: 171 authorities in 107 countries now operate live suptech applications, yet the depth and sophistication of deployment remain uneven and strongly correlated with income level and institutional capacity. Uptake is highest in AML/CFT, licensing, and consumer protection, while emerging domains such as AI oversight, climate risk, and digital-assets supervision are gaining attention but remain early-stage. AI progress is cautious, with authorities piloting NLP and predictive analytics while citing persistent constraints related to data quality, privacy, skills, and legacy IT. Across regions, institutions are prioritising foundational data infrastructure, workflow automation, and API-based reporting before scaling advanced analytics and generative AI.

The survey also confirms a strong correlation between strategic clarity and scaled implementation: authorities with formal data and digital strategies are significantly more likely to deploy multiple applications, while many continue to pursue diagnostics and strategy development in parallel with experimentation on individual applications.

Overall, the report concludes that suptech is entering a phase of deliberate, stepwise modernisation. Closing gaps in data maturity, talent, infrastructure, and governance will be essential for translating technological ambition into sustained supervisory impact.
